RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Jessica Fisiikava came off the bench to score a game- and career-high 21 points to lead California Baptist to an impressive 86-63 GSAC win over visiting Biola Tuesday night in Riverside.
The win snaps the Lancers' 3-game losing streak as they improve to 11-9 overall, 5-5 GSAC.
Biola takes its fourth loss and drops to 7-11, 4-6.
Fisiikava scored all 21 of her point from beyond the arc, going 7-for-10 from downtown. Her 7 treys is the second-highest single-game total in program history. She hit 2 treys each in a pair of big CBU runs in both halves.
It took a little more than 3 minutes for the Lancers to blow the game open. After Crystal Duncan hit a jumper to give the Eagles a 16-15 lead with 11:15 left in the half, the Lancers responded with 14 straight points over 3:27 to open a 29-16 lead. Fisiikava buried 2 of her 4 first-half 3-pointers in the spurt, and the Lancers never led by less than 11 the rest of the night.
Nicole Davis was dominant all over the floor as she finished with 18 points, a career-high and school-record 15 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals in 39 minutes.
“It feels good to finally get another win,” said Davis. “It's almost like we forgot how it felt to win for a little while. Our intensity and mental focus hasn't been there the past few games. We've been preparing hard for this game, because we needed to get back in the swing of things.”
Vanessa Wilt, who worked against 6-6 Linda Ogugua, the GSAC's leading rebounder, chipped in with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
In the second half, the Lancers led 70-49 when they scored 12 quick points in 2:55 to open a hefty 33-point (82-49) advantage. Fisiikava buried back-to-back treys, and then Wilt capped the run with back-to-back lay-ups.
For the seventh game this season, the Lancers hit 10 or more 3-pointers. They finished 12-for-22 (.545) from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, the Eagles were just 9-for-34 (.265) from downtown and 20-for-68 (.294) from the field.
“Tonight, we were mentally ready,” said Davis. “We focused on our offensive execution and our defensive rebounding. All we wanted to do tonight was compete.”
The Lancers out-rebounded the Eagles, 51-37. Adaobi Gwacham grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
Erin Greenberg chipped in with 10 points and 3 rebounds.
Mandi England and Rachel Dulin both led Biola with 12 points apiece.
