The win is the Lancers' second straight as they head into the postseason. They improve to
Sarai Stamper had 2 goals and assist, and Joanna Idom added a goal and an assist.
Stamper got things started in the ninth minute when she finished a through ball from Alyssa Turner, tucking inside the far post for a 1-0 Lancer lead. In the 20th minute, she was on the other end, feeding freshman Saundra O'Connor, who promptly tucked away her third goal of the year.
Idom then took matters into her own hands in the 40th minute, weaving through the SDCC defense, creating a one-on-one opportunity with Hawk GK Samantha Beveridge. Idom beat Beveridge to the far post for her ninth goal of the year.
All 3 Lancer keepers saw action to combine for the shutout. Ashley Aranda started and didn't need to make a save in the first 63 minutes. Emily Evanson collected 2 saves in the next 17 minutes, while LaMonica Johnson saw her first action of the year, playing the final 9 minutes.
With the Lancers leading 3-0, Stamper buried her ninth goal of the year in the 59th minute. Idom sent a perfect cross into the box. O'Connor took a touch and cleanly played it to Stamper, who found the back of the net.
The Lancers completed their best scoring output of the season in the 75th minute when Idom played another cross to the far post. Paisley Murphy, who picked up her first career point in Tuesday's 3-0 win over The Master's, picked up the cross and proceeded to bury her first career goal.
CBU, which outscored its opponents, 8-0, in the final 2 games (both wins), will find out its playoff fate Sunday afternoon. The 2006 NAIA Region II Playoffs get underway Oct. 31.
