CBU Splits Tri-Dual Meet on Senior Day

RESULTS
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Senior day turned out to be an even split for California Baptist University, as it defeated Grand Canyon 169-129 and fell to Wyoming 195-100 in Saturday's tri-dual Western Athletic Conference meet at the Lancer Aquatics Center.
The Lancers celebrated their six seniors: Emily Dunkerson, Madeline Broz, Janae Jizmejian, Andrea Laliena, Grace Oeser and Robin Smallwood. There was plenty of reason to celebrate, as CBU defeated a Lopes team that took fourth in the WAC last season.
CBU will take next week off before taking part in the UCLA Diving Invite (Jan. 18-20) and traveling to UC San Diego for a dual on Saturday, Jan. 19 at noon.
Isabella Rhodes posted an individual and relay first-place finish on Saturday. The redshirt freshman won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.04 seconds and swam on the winning 400-free relay team with Rebeca Oviedo, Rita Smirnova and Hannah Parson. Rhodes also took second in the 100 free (52.09).
CBU's biggest scoring event was the 400 individual medley. Alina Jungklaus won it in 4:34.32, while Morgan Giordano (4:42.38) and Emily Longfellow (4:43.59) took second and third, respectively. Jungklaus also took second in the 200 butterfly (2:10.13), in front of her teammate Kylie Morrison (2:11.98).
Oviedo and Buse Topcu added runner-up swims in the 200 free (1:53.87) and 1000 free (10:25.40) for the Lancers. Topcu also took third in the 500 free (5:08.52), just in front of Oviedo (5:08.56).
On the diving boards, Emily Dunkerson took second place on the 1-meter board with a score of 236.70.
Longfellow and Smallwood each had third-place finishes in the 100 back (1:00.05) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.32).
