RIVERSIDE – The NCAA Division I Strategic Vision and Planning Committee informed California Baptist University President Dr. Ronald Ellis on July 22 that the Lancers have officially advanced into year three of the four-year reclassification process.
"It is an honor to be a part of this exciting transition for CBU and our athletic department," Assistant Athletic Director for Academic and Student Support and Senior Woman Administrator Rachel Keys said. "It is rewarding to see the hard work of our staff, coaches, student-athletes, and entire campus community pay off as we hit this milestone and prepare for the next phase of our journey. I look forward to what we can accomplish in year three."
The process for approval involved the submission of an external compliance audit, an annual report and updated strategic plan by CBU that were reviewed by the NCAA committee.
Department highlights from the 2019-20 academic year include a new school record with a 3.445 GPA. CBU has posted a department GPA above 3.2 the last 10 semesters.
