FRESNO, Calif. --- Shi Fei's pinpoint accuracy powered the Lancers to a .308 hitting percentage, as California Baptist posted 9 blocks and held Azusa Pacific to a .084 clip in a 3-game sweep in the consolation match of the regional tournament.
The Lancers improve to 28-7 with the victory, in a rebound performance from yesterday's 3-1 loss to Concordia in the NAIA Region II semifinal round. Meanwhile, Azusa Pacific falls to 21-11 with its third loss of the season to CBU, a 30-13, 30-24, 30-26 defeat.
Fei posted 3 kills in a 7-1 first-set run, as California Baptist jumped out to a 28-10 advantage. The Lancer freshman hit .516 (17-1-31) and also chipped in with 2 blocks on the evening.
California Baptist hit .432 (19-3-37) in the opener while holding the Cougars to a hitting percentage of -.026 (8-9-38).
Lindsey Siefken and Caitlin Parker teamed up for a block in game 2, making the score 17-9. Siefken led the field with 5 blocks total and also nailed 6 kills on 10 swings while only committing one error. Parker, for her part, notched 20 assists overall.
In the closing game, Siefken posted 2 kills in the space of 3 points to help take the lead for good at 24-23. The Lancers, who hit .281 (14-5-32) in the closing set and held Azusa Pacific to a .207 (11-5-29) clip, ended the match on a 7-3 run.
Last year's NAIA National Tournament MVP Yudelka Bonilla added 6 kills and 2 blocks, while Angela Willis posted 4 kills and 4 blocks.
