CBU Athletics Communications

The Athletics Communications department's mission is to strategically provide communication between the athletics department and its external and internal constituents, increase awareness of and interest in CBU Athletics and to publicize the activities and achievements of the student-athletes, teams and athletics department as a whole.

CBU Athletics Communications facilitates the requests of CBU officials and student-athletes, as well as print and digital media, in order to ensure maximized exposure for CBU's 21 varsity sports. The department provides a wide range of other services to meet the ever-growing needs of media covering collegiate sports, as well as to assist other information-seeking organizations and individuals. In addition, the department serves as the chief public relations branch of CBU athletics, keeping image a top priority in its dealings with media, fans and others wishing to learn more about Lancer athletics and its people.

INTERVIEW POLICIES
All interviews with California Baptist University Athletics administration, coaching staff members, and/or student-athletes must be arranged through the Athletics Communications office. All interviews with student-athletes will be arranged around their academic class schedules and/or practice times. Please give at least 24 hours notice for interview requests to allow the Athletics Communications office to contact the person of interest. There will be no pre-game interviews on the day of the game unless prior arrangements have been made between the Athletics Communications office, the coach, and the member of the media at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time. Due to schedules, in-person interviews are not always guaranteed.

Media are not permitted to contact coaches or student-athletes on their own at any time. Should you need to conduct a telephone interview with a coach or student-athlete, it must be coordinated with an Athletics Communications staff member at a mutually agreeable time. Student-athletes will not be available for pre-game interviews on the day of the game.

For post-game interviews at home events, please contact Daniel Cook prior to the completion of the game. There is a 10-minute "cooling off" policy after the contest is over before interviews can be conducted with coaches and/or student-athletes.

CREDENTIAL REQUESTS
All requests for media credentials and photography passes must be arranged through the Athletics Communications office 48 hours prior to scheduled game time. Only legitimate requests will be granted. All photographers must shoot from the baselines, and positions are at the judgment of the game's officials and/or the game manager at all times.

MEDIA SERVICES
CBU Athletics Communications uses computerized statistics (Genius Sports/StatCrew/Automated Scorebook). All working media will receive an official game program and notes, halftime box score, and a final game box score, including play-by-play scoring, upon request. Working space is limited at all CBU home events - due to limited space, please contact the Athletics Communications office 48 hours in advance if you plan to cover an event in person.

DISTRIBUTION OF POST-GAME RESULTS
The CBU Athletics Communications office will provide e-mailing of the final game box score to media outlets of opposing teams. Please contact the Athletics Communications office with any special requests. A final score and official box score will be posted to the CBU athletics website within 30 minutes of the completion of a game.

VISITING RADIO
Stations wishing to broadcast games must make arrangements with the Athletics Communications office as early as possible to reserve space. There are no phone lines or internet connection at our outdoor soccer and water polo facilities, only baseball and softball.
