UPSET IN THE WATER
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. ? Aaron Steiger notched eight total goals as California Baptist finished the California Lutheran University Fall Tournament with four straight wins. The Lancers (7-6) opened Saturday with a thrilling 9-8 win over No. 18 Redlands and finished with a 17-10 win over Occidental.
Josh Harris scored the game-winning goal with 3:27 left to play to put the game away. Steiger scored three goals to match with Chris Morgan's three. Harris scored two goals and Alan Ogden scored one.
Redlands jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held a lead until CBU tied he game five with 6:33 left in the second quarter. Redlands took a 7-5 lead into the fourth quarter, but CBU ripped off three straight goals by Ogden, Morgan and Steiger to take an 8-7 lead. Redlands tied the game at eight with 4:00 left in the fourth before Harris game-winning goal.
Jon Miller also racked up 14 saves including a huge five-meter block.
Occidental was no match in the final game of the tournament for CBU as Steiger scored five goals, Morgan scored three and Kenny Koch scored his first goal of the season.
Miller finished that game with 18 saves.
The Lancers return home next week to host the Lancer Invitational Sept. 21-22.
