RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University fell on Saturday in Irvine, Calif., to University of California, Irvine 14-8. With the loss, CBU falls to 15-4 on the season.
The Lancers played a tough first quarter, but found themselves down 2-0 to UCI by the end of the first quarter. However, things went downhill quickly for the Lancers after that, as the horn sounded for halftime, CBU was down six goals, 9-3 to UCI.
The second half proved to be more productive offensively for the Lancers as they put together a comeback bid. Entering the fourth quarter down 12-3, CBU rattled off 4 goals in less than four minutes. In the end though, the Lancers could not find a way to overcome the slow start and dropped their fourth match of the season.
CBU was led in scoring by senior captain Jeff Woolstenhulme who recorded a hat trick in the contest. Austen Ramer tallied five saves in the contest.
The Lancers' next match is slated for Wednesday at the Lancer Aquatics Center. The game against Riverside Community College is set for 3 p.m.
