BROWN IN THE DUMPS
SANTA CLARA --- Scoring nine goals had previously spelled doom for the No. 15 California Baptist men's water polo team, but on Friday night it was more than enough against No. 20 Brown University.
In the Lancers' previous two nine-goal affairs CBU registered losses against then No. 5 UC Irvine and Golden West College.
However, defense was paramount in the Lancers' 9-3 win over Brown (13-5) as CBU added another win to its current 11 game winning streak (24-3).
Keeper
Austen Ramer posted six saves while CBU allowed the second fewest goals of the season (previous low was against one against Penn State-Behrend)
Alan Ogden continued his northern California tear with four goals. National scoring leader,
Aaron Steiger had 2 goals, and
Chris Toy tallied three assists.
The Lancers' 24th win of the season surpassed their 2009 total, and are just five shy of the school's all time high set in 2008.
CBU will continue its brutal road trip in the Santa Clara tournament, as the Lancers will face No. 11 UC Davis and tournament host No. 13 Santa Clara on Saturday.
