DAVIS, Calif. --- Cal Baptist University fell to No. 9 UC Davis 6-9 in the opening game of the Aggie Shootout on Friday evening.

Led by four goals from Brent Troutman, the Lancers trailed by just one goal going into the final eight minutes but were unable to hold off the host Aggies' fourth quarter surge.  Though UC Davis drew nine exclusions, the CBU defense held the Aggies to just two successful 6-on-5 drives. UC Davis also scored on one two-meter penalty.

The Lancers scored on three of seven 6-on-5 opportunities, including a goal from Scott Gleason in the fourth quarter. Chris Toy also notched his eleventh goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Austen Ramer added another nine saves, eight steals and one assist to crack the 60+ saves mark, now at 62 through eight games.

Now with a season record of 4-4, CBU will face Occidental and La Vern, both ranked in the top 10 in DIII, on Saturday (10:20 a.m.; 4:10p.m.).
