SANTA CLARA, Calif. – A last-second goal from
Tanner Shore delivered one of California Baptist University's biggest wins of the season over 16th-ranked Bucknell on Saturday.Â

It gave the No. 18 Lancers a split at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament after a 14-9 loss to 11th-ranked San Jose State earlier in the day. CBU improves to 17-12 this year, while the Spartans and Bison move to 11-8 and 13-10, respectively.Â

CBU overcame a 4-0 hole early on and 12-11 deficit with four minutes, 21 seconds left in regulation versus Bucknell.
Jonny Lotero ties things up 13 seconds later and then
Joseph Galgani gave the Lancers a 13-12 lead before Lotero made it a two-goal edge at the 1:23 mark.Â

Bucknell managed to fight back to a 14-14 tie with 28 seconds to play. Overtime appeared to be looming until Shore sank the game-winning goal in the very last second for the 15-14 win.Â

It capped an incredible comeback for the Lancers, who still trailed by four, 9-5, with just over a minute left in the first half. The rally back started with a Shore goal with 43 seconds left before the break. Two more Shore goals and a Lotero score tied things up at 9-9 with 2:25 to go in the third.Â

Shore finished with five goals in the game, while Lotero was responsible for four.
Christian Britton added two goals and two assists in the win.Â

In the first game with San Jose State, CBU came back from a five-goal deficit to force an 8-8 tie, but could not hold off the Spartans in the end.
Ryan Sargis (two goals, two assists) and
Dominick Nevarez (three goals, one assist) both put up four points in the loss, while Lotero (two goals, one assist) and
Caleb Rogers (three assists) each had three points.
SJSU took a 7-2 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Lancers rattled off four-straight goals, thanks to two from Sargis and one each from Nevarez and Lotero. It trimmed CBU's deficit to 7-6 with 1:13 left in the first half, but the Spartans scored again to lead 8-6 at half.
The Lancers came back to tie things at 8-8 with 4:32 left in the third quarter on goals from Lotero and
Kyle Christian. San Jose State powered up a 4-0 run to take a 12-8 lead and secure the win.
CBU plays again on Thursday in its return home after five games on the road, hosting Loyola Marymount in a Western Water Polo Association game on Senior Day at 7 p.m.
