RIVERSIDE, Calif. – While the postseason officially begins on Thursday, it will not feel much different for California Baptist University as the Lancers have been in a playoff push for the entire month of February.
It has brought out the best in CBU, which has won nine-straight games to qualify for the
PacWest Championship and secure the third seed in the six-team event. The Lancers, who went 17-11 and 14-6 in the PacWest, get the benefit of home-court advantage for the conference tournament, which will play out Thursday through Saturday in the CBU Events Center.

The Lancers will play the first game of the PacWest Championship Thursday at 12:30 p.m. against sixth-seeded Dominican. It will be the third time both sides will match up and the second time in a week. CBU defeated Dominican on the road, 94-68, last Thursday and posted a 94-76 win over the Penguins in Riverside on Jan. 3
rd.
Overall series history favors the Lancers, as CBU has won 12 of 13 games against Dominican, including 11-straight, and is an undefeated 7-0 on its home floor. Dominican last claimed victory versus the Lancers on its home floor on Dec. 17, 1997, just the second game of the series. The Lancers have won all of their last 11 games with the Penguins by double digits.
Thursday's winner between CBU and DUC will advance to play second-seeded Hawai'i Pacific Friday at 12:30 p.m., with the loser's season coming to an end.
CBU is the top defensive rebounding team in D-II, with 35 a game and also ranks fifth in rebounds (1,229) and seventh in rebounds per game (45.52). The Lancers' total assists (479) and assists per game (17.7) rank 13
th, while their 35.8 field-goal percentage defense is 27
