SEATTLE – California Baptist University closed out its final road trip of the regular season with a win over Seattle U on the Redhawks' Senior Day.
The Lancers ran away with a 90-79 victory, as they shot 44.8 percent from the floor on Saturday.
Lexy Ram and
Ane Olaeta led the charge, as both scored 20 points or more. Ram dropped 24 points on 5-6 shooting from beyond the arc and added eight rebounds in what was her seventh game with 20 or more points this season.
Olaeta did a bit of everything, with 20 points on 8-12 shooting, five boards and four assists.
Ragnheidur Einarsdottir matched her career-high with nine points for CBU.
Seattle trailed before the ball was even tipped, as CBU sank two free throws awarded for an administrative technical foul due to an equipment issue. The Redhawks tied the game twice and took two brief leads before the first media timeout of the game, but CBU would drain five three-pointers before the end of the quarter to build a lead it would not relinquish.
The Lancers built their lead early, leading the Redhawks 48-35 by halftime. As good as CBU was shooting the three-ball in the first half (50 percent), it held Seattle U to an equally-but-opposite low of 20 percent (3-15).
Seattle U would make a late push to get the game back within single-digits with six minutes left, but the Lancers would answer with a 7-3 run to for a more comfortable cushion.
With the win, the Lancers improve to 14-15 on the year and 5-9 in the Western Athletic Conference with two games to go. They will host NM State on Thursday night and then welcome the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley for Senior Day on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
