LAS CRUCES --- California Baptist University's men's basketball team opened up its final road trip of the Western Athletic Conference schedule on Thursday, as the Lancers and the NM State Aggies met one last time.
The Lancers entered Thursday night in second place with an overall record of 21-8 and 10-4 in conference play, while the Aggies held a 25-6 overall record and an undefeated 15-0 record in the WAC.
NM State came away with an 83-50 victory to record its first-ever undefeated season in WAC play. The Aggies have now won 34 straight games against WAC opponents with their last loss coming from the hands of the Lancers on Jan. 3, 2019.
The Aggies were red hot from the floor in the first half, shooting 51.7 percent from the field (15-29) and 56.3 percent from the 3-point line (9-16).
Milan Acquaah was the Lancers' go-to guy, as the junior guard finished the first half with 11 of the Lancers' 20 points.
Acquaah finished the game with a team-high 15 points on 23 minutes. Brandon Boyd added nine points, and Micah Robinson was a sparkplug off the bench with six points.
The Lancers will end their WAC slate against The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, March 17, at 5 p.m. (PST).
