Dixie State is 4-7 on the season and 0-4 in WAC play, dropping its first two series to UT Rio Grande Valley and Grand Canyon.
The familiarity between these two teams dates back to the 2011-12 season, as both teams were members of the PacWest. In their last meeting, the Trailblazers beat the Lancers on March 3, 2018, in a two-point game, 66-64.
Dixie State is in its first year of the transition period to full NCAA Division I membership, set to end in July 2024.
Notable Notes:
- The Trailblazers opened the season on a hot streak, winning their first three games over North Dakota (74-73), Saint Katherine (86-48) and Denver (73-70).
- After opening the season at 3-0, the Trailblazers have gone 1-7 and enter the weekend's game against the Lancers on a six-game losing streak dating back to Dec. 29, 2020, when they lost to No. 1 Gonzaga, 67-112.
- Cameron Gooden and Hunter Schofield are Dixie State's leading scorers.
- Gooden has played and started in all 11 games on the season with a team-high 13.6 points per game on the year.
- In WAC play, the Trailblazers are averaging 58.5 points per game while allowing opponents 78.0 points per game.
- Gooden's season average jumps to 16.8 points per game in WAC play, and he is the only player on the team averaging 30 minutes or more per game.
- Jon Judkins has been the head coach of the program since the 2005-06 season. He was a six-time PacWest Coach of the Year during the DII era and has compiled a 285-133 overall record, including a 265-121 mark during DSU's NCAA DII era.
