WBB Preview: Lancers Look To Finish Perfect Regular Season In Seattle; Watch on ESPN Plus

3/2/2021 12:09:00 PM

RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University women's basketball is rested and ready for its final Western Athletic Conference regular-season challenge this weekend at Seattle U. The Lancers had their scheduled bye-week immediately following their WAC-title-clinching, 79-64 win on Saturday, Feb. 20, against Grand Canyon. The team has won 23-straight games since Feb. 29, 2020, the longest such streak in the nation.

If CBU claims one final sweep on the road against the Redhawks, it will become the sixth WAC team to complete a perfect conference season, and the first to ever complete a perfect regular season.

GAME INFORMATION

Opponent: at Seattle U
Date: March 5 & 6
Time: Game 1 @ 3 p.m. | Game 2 @ 3 p.m.
Location: Seattle (Redhawk Center)
Video: ESPN+ (Both Games)
Live Stats: Game 1 | Game 2

The Redhawks will be playing for tournament seeding, as they currently sit in fourth place at 11-11 (6-4 WAC). NM State is right behind Seattle at 6-11 overall, but is 4-6 in the WAC with a series against Chicago State on deck to close out the Aggies' regular season.

Seattle has the offensive depth to challenge the Lancer defense that ranks as the WAC's overall best. The Rehawks boast four players averaging double-digits on the season in McKenzi Williams (15.5, third in the WAC), Bree Calhoun (13.0), Courtney Murphy (11.9) and Georgia Kehoe (11.2).

Calhoun and Kehoe pull double-duty as they not only lead their team in steals and blocks, respectively, but are tops in the conference, as well. Calhoun averages 3.5 steals per game, which is good for the fourth-highest rate in all of NCAA Division I, while her 77 total thefts are the second-most in the NCAA. Kehoe's 1.6 blocks per game are third best in the WAC.
