ABILENE ---Â California Baptist University closed out its Texas road trip against Abilene Christian University on Saturday, as the Lancers fell to the Wildcats, 77-68.
CBU is now 12-7 on the year and 2-4 in the Western Athletic Conference after going 1-1 during the two-game road swing in Texas. Abilene improves to 12-7 on the season and 3-5 in conference play.
Tre Armstrong led the Lancers on the day with 13 points, going 3-8 from the field and perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe. Reed Nottage finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Juhlawnei Stone ended his day with 10 points and five boards.
The Lancers weren't able to find a rhythm in the early going, as the Wildcats jumped out to a double-digit lead. CBU was able to cut into the deficit in the final minutes of the first half after Reed Nottage poured in a corner three to bring the Lancers within eight, 30-22.
The Wildcats went into the break with an eight-point edge.
The majority of the second half was spent trading baskets as CBU continued its efforts to erase the deficit.
Nottage helped the Lancers go on a 5-0 run at the 12:04 mark after knocking down the corner three.
ACU responded quickly with a run of its own, as the Lancers were unable to complete the comeback.
