RIVERSIDE – A hard fought battle between California Baptist University women's basketball and Grand Canyon went the way of the Lopes on Saturday as CBU fell 61-52 in Riverside. GCU now owns sole possession of second place in the Western Athletic Conference standings with records of 15-6 overall and 8-2 in league play. The Lancers record becomes 16-5 on the year and 7-3 in the WAC, eyeing a rematch with the Lopes in just 12 days in Phoenix.
Nine Lancers recorded points on Saturday, but only
Caitlyn Harper broke double-digits with 20 along with seven boards, and a pair of steals and blocks.
Ane Olaeta did a little bit of everything with five points, seven assists, eight rebounds and one steal.
The game turned against the Lancers in the second half as CBU shot just 24.2% in the final two quarters as opposed to the 45.8% they made from the field in the first half.

CBU heads back onto the road for the next three games, the first of which is against new WAC opponent Lamar in Beaumont, Texas, scheduled for a 5 p.m. tip Pacific time on February 10.
