Lancers Battle Grand Canyon In Saturday Showdown

RIVERSIDE – A hard fought battle between California Baptist University women's basketball and Grand Canyon went the way of the Lopes on Saturday as CBU fell 61-52 in Riverside. GCU now owns sole possession of second place in the Western Athletic Conference standings with records of 15-6 overall and 8-2 in league play. The Lancers record becomes 16-5 on the year and 7-3 in the WAC, eyeing a rematch with the Lopes in just 12 days in Phoenix.

Nine Lancers recorded points on Saturday, but only Caitlyn Harper broke double-digits with 20 along with seven boards, and a pair of steals and blocks. Ane Olaeta did a little bit of everything with five points, seven assists, eight rebounds and one steal.

The game turned against the Lancers in the second half as CBU shot just 24.2% in the final two quarters as opposed to the 45.8% they made from the field in the first half.
