WBB PREVIEW: Lancers Finish Regular Season At Chicago State before Hosting Lamar
3/1/2022 3:00:00 PM | Women's Basketball
RIVERSIDE - California Baptist University women's basketball is preparing for the final week of the regular season, which will start them on the road at Chicago State on Wednesday, March 2, before coming home for Senior Day against Lamar on Saturday, March 5.
The Lancers are coming off of a big win against Utah Valley, downing the Wolverines 84-59 in Riverside. Big games from Caitlyn Harper (29 points and five rebounds) and Trinity San Antonio (16 points, 11 rebounds, and six steals) allowed the Lancers to cruise for the final three-quarters of the game.
The win also secured the Lancers' second-straight season with at least 20 wins, after completing last year's challenging season with 26. CBU has at least three more opportunities to add to that total with this week's pair of regular-season games and at least one WAC Tournament game, with the potential to play three in Las Vegas.
GAME INFORMATION – Wednesday, March 2
Opponent: Chicago State
Time: 4 p.m. Pacific
Location: Chicago, Ill.
Venue: Jones Convocation Center

Live Stats: StatBroadcast
The Cougars enter Wednesday's game with a 4-21 record on the season and a 3-13 conference total. CSU sits two games behind Seattle U for the final spot in the WAC Tournament and will no doubt be playing like that on Wednesday as this is a must-win for the Cougars if they want to make the post-season. Chicago has already beaten the Redhawks once, but will face them in the final game of the season with a potential tournament berth on the line.
It will have been nearly two months since Chicago and California Baptist played when this game tips. The Lancers took the first game 73-60, and held Cougar freshman phenom Aaliyah Collins to just five points on 2-14 shooting from the floor. That was also the game where San Antonio announced herself to the conference, dropping a career-high 24 points to lead all scorers.
GAME INFORMATION – Saturday, March 5
Opponent: Lamar University
Time: 1 p.m.
Location: Riverside, Calif.
Venue: CBU Events Center

Lamar has already secured its spot in the tournament with an 11-13 season record and a 6-9 tally in conference play in their WAC debut season. The Cardinals are in the midst of a five-game losing streak, their longest such stint all season. It began when CBU came to Beaumont on Feb. 10 and came away with a 71-56 victory.
The Lancers had one of their best shooting performances of the year in that first game, going 29-55 from the floor (52.7%). Ane Olaeta led the way with 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, all of which were game-high totals.
