LAS VEGAS --- California Baptist University's men's basketball team closed out the 2022 Hercules Tires Western Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament on Wednesday, as the Lancers fell to the Bearkats of Sam Houston, 65-35.
The Lancers entered the game after recording their first WAC Tournament win the previous night in an 81-80 victory over The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Meanwhile, Sam Houston came into the WAC Tournament with six days of rest as the #5 seed after finishing 13-5 in the WAC.
SHSU came out red hot for the Wednesday night matchup, as the Bearkats jumped out to a 15-3 lead over the Lancers. The Bearkats finished the first half shooting 40 percent from the field and 42 percent from the 3-point line. The Lancers couldn't quite find their rhythm on the night, as they finished the game shooting 25 percent from the field and 13 percent from the 3-point line.
Taran Armstrong led the Lancers for the second straight game, as the WAC Freshman of the Year finished his night with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists.
