RIVERSIDE – California Baptist University men's water polo posted its third game this season with 20-or-more goals on Thursday night, downing the visiting Fresno Pacific Sunbirds 26-6.

The win pushes CBU to 9-6 on the year with a 2-1 record in Western Water Polo Association action. The Sunbirds continue to search for their first win of the year, now standing at 0-7 overall and 0-3 in WWPA play.

The Lancers wasted no time building an insurmountable lead, outscoring the Sunbirds 8-1 after the first period, 17-3 after the second, and 22-5 heading into the final period.

Cameron Cullen led the way offensively, netting five goals on six shots with Matt Olsen not far behind, scoring three times on four shots. Each Lancer secured their hat tricks in the first half.

Angel Sanchez was in a giving mood on Thursday night, dealing out six assists while also snagging a trio of steals.

CBU goalies Tristan Felberg and Trevor Begne combined to hold FPU to just six goals on 25 shots, making five saves apiece.

The Lancers will be back in action tomorrow, taking part in the multi-site Gary Troyer Tournament. The team is slated to take on No. 9 UC Irvine first at 12:40 p.m. before playing again against Ottawa (AZ) at 6 p.m. Both games will be played in Pomona.
