MATCH NOTES
California Baptist and Grand Canyon are familiar foes with competition dating back to 2011. The Lancers currently hold a 6-3-2 all-time record against the Lopes, with the most recent win taking place during last year's season. Competition has always been close between these two squads, and this year's match will be no different.
THE LOPES AT A GLANCE
The Lopes enter the single match week 2-1-1 in conference play, picking up wins against Seattle U and Southern Utah earlier this season. GCU most recently tied Utah Tech in a 1-1 competitive draw this past Sunday after going down in the first half and scoring the tying goal in the 52
nd minute. The only loss GCU has in the WAC this season was against the favorites, Utah Valley, in a decisive 4-0 match.
Gianna Gourley leads GCU on the offensive attack, posting 13 goals this season. Gourley holds the second-most goals in the WAC and picked up a brace in the 4-1 win against Southern Utah last Thursday. Lindsay Prokop and Bekah Valdez follow with four goals each to round out GCU's attacking front. Defensively, the Lope backline has allowed just 14 goals this season compared to their 28 scored. Grand Canyon goalkeeper DeAira Jackson holds six shutouts and has been given the WAC Goalkeeper of the Week nod three times this season as well.
