LONG BEACH--- California Baptist headed down the coast to take on the Long Beach Dirtbags in a midweek tilt before returning to conference play this weekend. A walk-off home run would ultimately secure the 3-2 win for the home team, after the Lancer's late comeback push. California Baptist moves to 12-13 on the season.
The Dirtbags took an early lead in the second inning with a pair of runs off a single and sacrifice fly. Solid fielding from the Lancers would keep them within two of Long Beach.
Garret Ostrander continues to be an offensive force for CBU, tallying two hits and an RBI on the road. The junior created the momentum in the seventh inning with a double that eventually helped the Lancers get on the board. His single in the eighth would tie the game after scoring
Jake Brown, earning his eleventh RBI of the season. The Dirtbags secured the game with walk-off home run to take a 2-0 record this season against the Lancers.
CBU returns to Totman Stadium for a weekend Western Athletic Conference series against the Utah Tech Trailblazers beginning on Friday at 6 P.M.
