RIVERSIDE--- California Baptist took on Tarleton State University in the second game of the WAC series, hoping to even the weekend, but ultimately fell 7-4 to the Texans. The Lancers move to 17-18 on the season and 9-8 in Western Athletic Conference play.
CBU started well against TSU as
Josh Paino tripled for his first hit of the game and put the Lancers ahead by one after
Jake Skipworth came home. In the fourth, Paino doubled down the left-field line for another RBI, and
Josiah Chavez cleaned up the inning with a hit that scored
Matthew Darr. The Texans tied the game in the top of the sixth with three runs, but California Baptist quickly retook the lead with a sacrifice fly from Darr to score
Dustin Garcia.
Tarleton ultimately regained the lead in the seventh and held it through the ninth for the series win. Skipworth went four hits for four at-bats against the away squad, and Paino collected three hits with two RBI on the evening.
