RIVERSIDE--- Nicholas Dumesnil was the story of the night as he got the first start of his career on Tuesday and helped the Lancers secure the win against the Highlanders of UCR. California Baptist put 10 hits on the UCR pitching staff for a 6-1 victory to improve their record to 19-18 overall.
Mitchel Simon got things started for the Lancers in the first inning with a double that scored Ostrander for a one-run lead.
Nathan Hemmerling sat down the UCR batters in order to keep the away team scoreless through the second, allowing CBU to take a 3-0 lead in the second.
Josh Paino hit a solo homer over left field before Dumesnil singled in his first career at-bat. He eventually made it home off a hit from
Garret Ostrander to tally the second run of the inning.

The Highlanders managed to send a single runner home in the third but were met with a Dumesnil double that gave him his first pair of RBI. Simon closed out the scoring for the Lancers in the bottom of the fourth with his fourteenth home run of the year, a solo shot over center field. California Baptist's pitching staff kept the Highlanders scoreless through the remaining five innings.
Drew Necochea came up big during his two innings on the mound with four strikeouts, earning his first win of the season.

Dumesnil collected two hits, a walk, and two RBI during his first career start for the Lancers. The freshman also tallied five putouts after stepping into center field for CBU. Simon also had another solid night in the batter's box, earning two hits and two RBI.

The Lancers will hit the road for a weekend series in Las Vegas against the Rebels of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, beginning on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
