RIVERSIDE - After a decisive 2-0 slate last weekend, outscoring Biola and Concordia 30-13 combined, California Baptist University men's water polo prepares for one of the harder stretches of the season.
The Lancers are set to participate in the MSPF Invitational for the first time in program history. The tournament is co-hosted by USC and UCLA and features 12 of the top 19 teams in the nation. The Lancers' road will be demanding from the start as they are slated to take on #5 Princeton and #4 Stanford on day one. Games three and four, on Saturday and Sunday, will be determined by prior tournament results.
PRINCETON AT A GLANCE
The Tigers are 9-0 on the 2023 season, one of which came against the Lancers at the Princeton Invitational on September 8th. The Tigers have shown a stout defense so far this season, as no team has scored more than nine goals on them in a game.
The Tigers are led offensively by the duo of Roko Pozaric and Vladan Mitrovic, who have tallied 23 and 21, respectively, in Princeton's 15-6 victory.
STANFORD AT A GLANCE
The Cardinal enter the weekend at 6-2 with losses to #9 Long Beach State and #3 UCLA, both by two goals. However, five of their six wins have come against ranked teams, giving them the edge in the polls over Princeton.
They arrive in Southern California with a three-game win streak against a trio of top-14 teams in the nation. They've outscored that trio of LMU, UCSD, and UCSB 41-25 with 27 saves and 26 steals.
