COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--- The California Baptist men's water polo squad kicked off their pair of away games this weekend against West Coast Conference foe Air Force, securing a 21-13 win to maintain their perfect WCC record. The Lancers improved to 3-0 in conference and are now 19-9 overall.
CBU cruised to their third WCC win this season after kicking off Friday's match with five goals in the first quarter. The Lancers added on another five before the half for a three-goal lead, allowing seven from the Falcon offense during the first two frames. The third frame was CBU's most successful after Alex Righetti and Toring Stanley picked up a brace amidst the nine-goal quarter for the Lancers. The Lancer's defense was also particularly strong during the third frame and allowed just a pair of goals from the home squad. The Air Force managed to outscore the Lancers in the final quarter after denting the twine four times, while CBU found the back of the net twice to secure a 21-13 final score.
Three Lancers found the back of net four times through the match in Colorado, including Stanley, Righetti, and Logan Puhl. Marcus Lodewyk played catalyst for CBU, tallying four assists against the Falcons.
The Lancers continue to hold tight to their top-three WCC standing and will face their biggest conference challenge on Sunday as they take on #9 Pepperdine in Malibu at noon.
