ARLINGTON - California Baptist women's basketball has claimed nearly every accolade available to them in seven years in the Western Athletic Conference, but for the first time in the Division I era, they can claim Freshman of the Year. CeCe Legaspi has had a standout year with growing minutes and starts, and the WAC noticed, voting her the Freshman of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
The Meridian, Idaho, native has started 11 of her 21 games played and has higher averages as a starter to the tune of 7.8 points and 7.7 rebounds while shooting 40.6% and nearly one block per game. She's also posted some of her best individual games in her starts, including 14 rebounds at Utah Tech and 12 points against Tarleton.
Khloe Lemon joins Legaspi on the honoree list as an All-WAC Second Team selection. The leading scorer in conference play impressively lands on the Second Team after missing more than half of the season with various injuries, but her impact could not be denied. She scored 20 or more points in seven of her 15 games this season and did so with incredible efficiency, shooting at a 50.5% clip. Her highlight game came in just her second game back on the floor against Utah Valley when the sophomore shooter went off for a WAC season-high 39 points against the Wolverines, hitting 11 threes to set a new CBU single-game record and tying the all-time WAC single-game record.
The pair will now help guide their squad through the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Vegas this week as the No. 6 seed. They will face off with their most recent opponent, UT Arlington, on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m
