Tami Fleming was named the head cheerleading coach at California Baptist University in October 2010, becoming the third head coach since the program was started in 2006.
In her nine years, the Lancers have won seven consecutive National Cheerleading Association championships, held in Daytona Beach, Fla., helping CBU become the first-ever All-Girl Division II program to win six in a row. Fleming led the Lancers to a seventh straight NCA championship victory in the debut Division I season in 2018-19.
For the past three years, the Lancers qualified two stunt groups for the national championship and saw one of the groups win the title for the first time in program history in 2017.
CBU has not surrendered a defeat since the 2012 season. That year, Fleming was named California State Coach of the Year by Cheerpros.
Under Fleming, the Lancers have won eight-straight USA Collegiate Championships after picking up their first title in program history back in 2012. That year, the team placed second at the 2012 NCA College Nationals with only one-hundredth of a point separating them from a national championship.
In 2010-11, Fleming's first year at the helm, the Lancers finished fifth at the NCA Nationals. It was the first time ever the Lancers had finished in the top five.
Fleming came to CBU with more than 14 years of coaching experience in various capacities. From 2004-11, Fleming was the owner of West Coast All Stars, managing the day-to-day operations of the all-star cheer gym, coaching beginning, advanced and collegiate level teams as well as overseeing a staff of 10 other coaches and 400 members.
Prior to that, she served as coach and director at the Crescenta Valley Gymnastics Club in San Dimas, Calif., from 2001-03. While at the club, Fleming started an all-star cheer program from scratch and tripled its size within two years. She coordinated the day-to-day operations, coached various teams, choreographed routines and organized music mixes.
Fleming began a coaching career in 1996 serving as the cheer coach at San Gabriel Christian School. Three years later, she began coaching at the freshman, junior varsity and varsity levels at Glendora (Calif.) High.
From 1997-2004, Fleming worked at Disney as an entertainment performer, casting director, assistant manager in entertainment and educational music presenter.
Fleming and her husband, Kevin, live in Mira Loma with their daughter Aria.
