RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A program-high three California Baptist University Lances were named NCAA Division II All-Americans when the American Volleyball Coaches Association released its national teams on Wednesday.
Lauren Hackett and Jenna Perry were both named to the AVCA's D-II second team, while Sydney Kralj picked up honorable mention. It is the first time three Lancers have received All-American distinction in one season, and ties the program's single-season record for All-Americans for the sixth time.
CBU produced three national honorees in the NAIA in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010 and did so again in the NCCAA in 2011.
It was the second All-American award for Hackett in as many days, and third of her career after the AVCA recognized her as the Freshman of the Year and third-team national standout in 2014. Overall, the junior hitter ranked fifth in D-II in kills per set (5.20), sixth in kills per set (4.47) and 15th in total kills (492) this year. The outside hitter led the Lancers in kills and aces (36) this year, was second in digs (283, 2.57 a set) and fourth in blocks (77).
Perry ends her collegiate career with consecutive All-American awards. The senior finished her final season with 405 kills (3.68 a set) on a .303 hitting percentage, 215 digs (1.95), 79 blocks and 23 aces. The opposite hitter ranked 52nd in Division II in points per set (4.25), 57th in kills per set (3.68) and 71st in total kills (405).
Kralj has been one of the biggest transfers in all of Division II this year, making quite an impact for CBU. The junior transfer from Cal State Los Angeles ranked 23rd in the division in assists per set (10.99) and 64th in total assists (1,132). The Lancers also rank seventh overall in Division II in hitting percentage (.271). Kralj has her hands all over the floor, with 10 double-doubles this season, with 254 digs (2.47 a set), 50 kills on a .356 percentage, 42 blocks and 19 aces.
CBU went 20-9 this season and matched its program-best second-place finish in the PacWest. The Lancers went 15-5 in conference to advance to the Division II postseason for the first time.
