Jan Tichy carved out a name for himself in the swimming pool. He earned 14 All-American honors over his career and long held several CBU records. He helped the Lancers win their second-straight title at the 2007 NAIA Championships. Tichy was named the NAIA Outstanding Swimmer in both 2006 and 2007 after winning a total of 11 NAIA Championships over that span.
In 2006, Tichy won individual titles in the 100-yard butterfly, the 100 and 200-yard backstrokes. He also won relay championships in the 200-yard medley, 800 and 400 freestyles. Tichy won five more championships in 2007, with individual victories in the 100 and 200 butterfly, 100 and 200 back and 400-freestyle relay. His respective times of 48.40 seconds and 1:47.48 in the 100 and 200 fly were long-time CBU records, along with the 400-freestyle relay time of 3:02.77.
