Larry Smith enjoyed a stellar baseball career from 1979-83. He was the first NAIA All-American in CBU baseball history and was 49-13 with a 1.03 career ERA. He recorded 13 shutouts and fired 370 strikeouts on his way to a trio of all-district honors. In 1983, Smith was 20-2 with a 1.30 ERA and 138 strikeouts in 234 innings as more often than not, he would pitch both ends of a Saturday doubleheader.
