Melodie Starr was an athlete of many talents during her time with the Lancers, competing on the Women's Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball teams during her collegiate career. Starr is also the first female athlete to be inducted into the CBU Athletics Hall of Fame and was also the first to receive the prestigious Magnolia Athletic Award which is given annually by Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church to the best overall senior athlete.
Starr competed on the basketball and softball teams her freshman season before adding volleyball to her schedule in her final three years and would be a captain for all three at differing times. Starr graduated with a degree in physical education in 1977 and would graduate cum laude. She would then go on to serve as an assistant coach for the Lancers in women's basketball and softball before transitioning to career in education at Riverside Christian School.
