Zach's 2013 season is in the running for one of the best single-seasons in any sport in CBU Athletics. In 2013 Esquerra was named the ABCA Division II, the NCCAA, and PacWest Player of the Year as well as the NAIA Tournament MVP and made the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team. He was earned First Team All-PacWest three times. His two home runs in the final game of the regular secured the 2013 PacWest Championship for the Lancers in the final regular season game of the year. He was a two-time West Region Player of the Year and three-time conference All-Academic member. Zach finished second in the CBU record books in career home runs, fourth in triples, fifth in walks, ninth in RBI's, and tenth in runs scored. After a stellar Lancer career, Zach was selected in the 24^th round in the 2013 MLB draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
