The loss is just the second in the Lancers' past 7 games, as they drop to 13-8, 5-7. The Lions stay undefeated at 17-0, 12-0 and stretch their winning streak over the Lancers to 24 games.
The teams combined to fire off a whopping 86 shots from beyond the arc?second-most in NAIA history. The 29 combined 3-pointers made is also just 3 shy of the NAIA record.
After ending the first half with a 46-40 advantage, Vanguard hit a trio of 3-pointers in a 19-6 half-opening rally. Richter notched a pair of treys among eight points in the run, as the Lions eventually led by 22 points, at 84-62 with 7:15 left on the game clock.
Adaobi Gwacham, who scored 12 points for CBU, tallied 4 points in the Lancers' string of 7 unanswered points to make the score 84-69 with 4:17 remaining. Erin Greenberg, who ended with a team-high 23 points?including a 7-for-11 effort from downtown?hit a pair of 3-pointers to bring the game within 11, at 89-78, with 2:11 left to play, but it was as close as the Lancers would get the rest of the way.
Richter shot 7-for-23 from beyond the arc, as Melissa Cook launched was just 3-for-12 in 3-point attempts, but ended with 20 points and 8 assists.
Nicole Davis posted a double-double for CBU, with 18 points and 10 dimes on the evening, as Brandie McCann scored 16 points in the loss.
