The loss is the Lancers' second straight as they fall to 8-6 overall, 0-5 GSAC. Biola improves to 6-7, 2-3, snapping a 3-game losing skid.
Alberts, a 6-1 sophomore, was 14-for-24 from the field and 8-for-9 from the free throw line in getting her career-high. She routinely took advantage of an undersized Lancer rotation on the inside.
The Eagles opened a 17-7 lead with 12-3 first half run, but the Lancers turned up the defensive pressure with a full court press and held the Eagles without a field goal for 6 minutes. As a result, the teams went into the locker room tied at 31-31.
Nicole Davis and Erin Greenberg led CBU with 18 points apiece.
Midway through the second half, Biola used a 10-0 flurry in which Alberts scored 5 points to take a 56-46 lead with 9 minutes left. Again the Lancers answered, getting within 2 on 3 different occasions.
The Lancers forced 25 turnovers but were out-rebounded, 58-35, and shot a measly .347 (25-for-72) from the field, which included a 7-for-21 (.219) clip from downtown.
Brandie McCann chipped in with 10 points, 6 assists and 3 steals.
