RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- No. 6 California Baptist University made quick work of Hope International Saturday night, defeating the Royals 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-18), in under an hour.
All 13 players touched the floor for the Lancers who got their second straight sweep of a conference opponent.
The outcome looked to be in question for the first 10 minutes of the night, as Hope International hung with the Lancers tying the first set score at 10-10. CBU, however, went on an eight-point run, led by the service of Bree Rauschenbach, to effectively put the Royals away early.
Rauschenbach served two aces during the run and got kills from three separate Lancers. The two aces for Rauschenbach were part of five on the match as the junior middle blocker increased her conference and team leading season total to 54. She is now averaging 0.69 aces per set.
Linjun Ji led CBU offensively with 11 kills (.417) on the night. Rauschenbach (9) and Ingrid Carmona (8) were close behind. Seven Lancers got on the board in the kill column contributing to 41 total in the match for the home team. Kari Oliver was the only Lancer to record double-digit digs with 12.
The Lancers held Hope International to just an .020 hitting percentage. The Royals hit negative in the first two games before hitting .100 in the third.
CBU improves to 21-2 overall, 8-2 GSAC while Hope International falls to 5-9, 2-8. The Lancers are back on the road next week, going to No. 8 Azusa Pacific Thursday and then to Westmont Saturday.
