STOCKTON, Calif. --- After hammering out its second straight 15-goal game on Thursday at Fresno Pacific, California Baptist University's offense cooled off a bit as it dropped a game to the University of the Pacific, 8-6, on Friday. The Lancers are now 8-6 on the season.

Sophomore Petra Kovacs and junior Kylie Chevalier each scored a goal in the first quarter to match the Tigers first-quarter effort. Entering the second period knotted at 2-2, Pacific muscled four scores into the net, while CBU only managed one, giving the Tigers a 6-3 halftime advantage.

The Lancers battled back within two, 7-5, in the third quarter thanks to Kovacs who scored with two minutes left in the period, and again with only one second remaining in the third quarter. Then, in a quiet final period, each team only added one more goal, giving the Tigers the two-point victory.

Each half of the dynamic duo that was Kovacs and Chevalier netted a hat trick for CBU, and the pair were the only Lancers to score in the game.

CBU will play in the Santa Clara Tournament on Saturday in Santa Clara, Calif. CBU will first face off against the host Bronocs at 9 a.m., then play Cal State Monterey at 2:30 p.m.
