CBU continued its hot start to the season, moving to 6-1 with the win.
"They were playing a zone for most of the night and we were able to knock down some shots and take advantage of it," said CBU Head Coach Jarrod Olson. "Brittney Lewis had a great shooting night for us and Jasmine Sauser was able to hit some threes. Overall it was a pretty solid performance."
The Lancers grabbed the lead with less than 10 minutes left in the opening half and went in to the break leading 31-18 after a 16-2 run late in the period. Sauser and Lewis hit back-to-back threes to help cap the run.
It was more of the same right out of the gates in the second half for CBU, as the Lancers scored 12 straight points to open the period.
CBU would lead comfortably the rest of the way.
"We really had a nice stretch there late in the first half and especially to start the second," said Olson. "I think we just picked up our defense and made things tough on them."
Lewis led the Lancers with 21 points on the night, hitting a season high four 3-pointers on eight attempts. She was 7 for 13 from the floor.
Myriah Hicks and Sauser also reached double figures for CBU, posting 16 and 13 points respectively. Sauser was 3 of 3 from long distance.
CBU shot a season best 45 percent from the floor and 40 percent from beyond the arc, surpassing its previous high of eight 3-pointers with 11 in the game.
"We hadn't been shooting the ball that well before tonight, so shooting like that was nice to see," said Olson. "Hitting 40 percent of our threes is a good solid number."
The Toros were held to just 17 percent shooting in the game and had only one player in double figures. Monay Lee scored 10 points. CSUDH dropped to 1-6 on the season.
