The Lancers defeated the Seasiders 93-60 Saturday night for the team's fourth straight victory. The win improves CBU's record to 20-4 overall, 13-3 in the PacWest, helping the Lancers keep pace with Grand Canyon atop the conference standings to set a showdown that could decide the PacWest title in Phoenix March 1.
The 20-4 record gives the Lancers consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time since 1990.
"This game got a little choppy in the second half and I thought our girls handled it very well," said Head Coach John Marcum. "This team keeps getting better each game and I feel like we are really hitting our stride right now."
CBU was coming off a 61-point win over Chaminade earlier in the week.
The Lancers dominated play in the paint, outscoring the Seasiders 44-8 down low. CBU's bench also came up big, outscoring the BYUH reserves 36-10.
Just like on Monday night, CBU came out firing and less than seven minutes into the game the Lancers held a 23-8 lead.
The Lancers led 48-25 going into the half.
BYUH never led in the game. CBU led by as much as 35 in the second half.
CBU shot 54.8 percent from the floor, the second highest shooting percentage of the season for the Lancers.
"John Wooden said it takes 10 hands to make a basket and that was definitely true tonight," said Marcum. "This team is sharing the ball and continuing to make each other better. Any time you have five players in double figures it's a good night."
It was the second straight game CBU has had five players in double digits.
Myriah Hicks led the team with 16 points, Nicole Anderson scored 15 and Simone Holmes added 14. Jasmine Beverly posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Hicks led the team with six assists.
CBU also shot 45.5 percent from beyond the arc in the game.
Taylor Mann did the majority of the work for the Seasiders, scoring 24 points to lead all scorers in the contest.
"This team is definitely ready for Grand Canyon," said Marcum. "They have some pretty good players we know we're going to need to guard, but they (GCU) had better be ready because we're coming to play."
The Lancers tip off at 3:30 PST Thursday, March 1 at Grand Canyon. A live audio broadcast of the game will be on cbulancers.com.
