SEASIDE, Calif. --- California Baptist University closed out the Otter Invitational hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay in ninth place on Tuesday.
The 24th-ranked Lancers opened the day in a tie for eighth, but couldn't make up any ground on the leaderboard, shooting a 305 in the final round to finish with a 906 (301-300-305).
Micah Machado led the way with a 222 for the tournament, lowering his score in each round. Machado opened with a 75 and then posted a 74 and 73 in the two subsequent rounds.
Stephen Watson had the second lowest score of the day for CBU with a 75, finishing with a 226 (72-78-75) for the tournament. Neil Hand shot a 230 (78-75-77), Fredrik Hansson posted a 232 (75-77-80) and Glenn Hakes finished with a 234 (78-74-82).
Tournament host and eighth-ranked CSUMB closed out the wire-to-wire victory, shooting an even par 288 on the final day to finish at 10-under (854) for the tournament. The closest competitor was 27 strokes back as No. 1 Barry finished at 881. Wilmington took third with an 889.
The tournament concludes the fall season for CBU as the Lancers will be back in action Feb. 24-25 at the Coyote Classic.
