The following is the sixth of 10 Flashback Friday articles that look back on the highlight achievements of CBU athletics over the 2013-14 campaign. A post will be made each Friday up until August 29, leading in to the 2014-15 season.
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – There were multiple signs of success for California Baptist University athletics in 2013-14, from historic winning streaks, playoff berths to conference championships and conference players of the year.
This past season also served as a reminder of long-term success for several Lancer programs and their coaches. Three CBU coaches hit century marks in career victories, with Gary Adcock winning his 400th game with Lancers baseball. Kristen St. Clair and Bill Baber each won their 100th games as head coaches of the women's soccer and softball programs, respectively, this season, as well.

Adcock earned his 400th career win at CBU in a doubleheader with Academy of Art at Totman Stadium on April 25. The Lancers won the first game, 5-1, for Adcock's 400th victory, who picked up win No. 401 a few hours later in an 11-3 final. Adam Hofacket logged a gem on the mound in win 400, throwing 7.2 innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts and one walk, while Andrew Montoya led the offense with a 3-for-4 outing at the plate.
CBU baseball made history in a number of ways in 2014, as it set a new program-best winning streak of 24 games by winning its first 15 games of 2014 and last nine of 2013. The Lancers finished the season with a 39-15, 20-12 in PacWest record, moving Adcock's record to 406-196-1, 254-124 in conference after his 11th season with the team.
St. Clair picked up her 100th win on the sixth game of her seventh season at CBU. The milestone came when her squad defeated Holy Names, 4-1, on Sept. 21 on the heels of two-goal games from future NCAA All-Americans Bernadette Witz and Kelly Jenks.
After a 12-5-1, 10-2 in PacWest run in 2013, St. Clair's career record now sits at 109-30-9, with a dominant 61-13-4 conference mark.
Bill Baber" width="500" height="281">
Baber was the only coach to hit his century mark on the road this year, as the Lancers defeated PacWest foe Dixie State in the first half of a doubleheader on March 8 for his 100th win with the squad. CBU won the game, 8-6, with the hard-hitting offense it showcased all year. Krista Mann was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and two scores, while Kailey Willingham drove in two more runs and Marshean August and Jacque Lopez each contributed 2-for-3 games.
CBU finished the year with a 46-13, 27-5 conference record en route to a share of the PacWest title. Baber's career record ballooned to 126-37, 71-23 in conference over three seasons.
While impressive, the personal achievements were just icing on the cake for the three CBU coaches, with the focus for all three being the overall team's success – something Adcock alluded to after his 400th win.
“I never want it to be about me and it's not about me,” he said. “I understand the significance of it, but the focus is and always has been on the players. They do a great job and have done so from win one to win 400. It's a player's game and they should be applauded way more than I should.”
All three Lancer squads, along with most others, had plenty of opportunities to celebrate in 2013-14. The whole trio advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs in their first seasons as fully-fledged members and secured top-two finishes in the PacWest.
