RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Heading across the Pacific to the Hawaiian Islands, California Baptist University is looking to take down the two schools sitting in front of the Lancers in the PacWest standings, Hawaii Pacific and BYU-Hawaii. Although toward the bottom of the standings, Chaminade also hosts the Lancers, who aren't going to look past the Silverswords.
CBU and Chaminade square off on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. PST before the Lancers head to the North Shore to battle the Seasiders, also at 7:00 p.m. PST. The hardest challenge will be on Monday against the Sharks, who have yet to drop a conference contest. The Lancers and Sharks tip off on Monday at 6:30 p.m. PST.
Head-to-Head
CBU holds an impressive record against all three schools, having only dropped a game to Hawaii Pacific. The Lancers are 4-0 in the all-time series with both the Silverswords and the Seasiders, while 4-1 against the Sharks. The loss came last year at HPU in a close 80-75 battle.
Rankings
CBU is still receiving votes in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association/Division II Poll, as released Tuesday. The Lancers have four total votes, waiting to break into the Top-25. In the D2SIDA West Region Poll, CBU ranks as the No. 8 team in the region, while HPU sits in the No. 6 spot. BYUH broke into the rankings this week, debuting as No. 10.

Lancer Notes
CBU comes off a pair of wins, 77-59 over Dixie State and 80-70 over Point Loma, looking to keep building momentum in Hawaii. As a team, the Lancers rank second in the PacWest leader board for scoring offense (averaging 78.1 points per game) and scoring margin (11.6). CBU also tops the PacWest and ranks 15 in the NCAA Division II with 7.8 three-pointers made per game, while holding opponents to a conference-best 24.2-percent from beyond the arc, ranking the Lancers third in the division.
Darsha Burnside, who missed the PLNU game due to illness, is expected to be back in the lineup for Hawaii, which will give CBU a threat off the glass. The junior averages 12.1 rebounds per game to rank first in the PacWest and 10th in all of NCAA Division II. She has grabbed a double-double in all but four of the 16 games she's played, averaging a double-double with 14.6 ppg and sitting tied for 11th in NCAA Division II for most double-doubles—just four away from the top of the list.
Courtney Nelson leads a quartet of Lancers averaging double figures with 16.6 ppg, sitting in the No. 4 spot amongst the conference's leading scorers. Fellow sophomores Cassidy Mihalko (14.3 ppg) and Kamille Diaz (12.2 ppg) round out the top four for CBU, also ranking ninth and 24th in the PacWest.
Silversword Notes
Chaminade grabbed a much-needed win over Holy Names last Saturday, defeating the Hawks 65-54, just its third win of the season. The other two victories came against Fresno Pacific, 67-65, on Jan. 8 and at Notre Dame de Namur, 72-71, on Jan. 17. Three Silverswords lead the team with scoring in double-digits, led by Kristie Henry at 12.2 ppg. Lillia Maio and Katie Buskey follow with 10.9 ppg and 10.4 ppg, respectively.
Seasider Notes
As the conference's top three-point defending team, the Lancers will look to limit BYUH's chances from the perimeter. The Seasiders top the PacWest in three-point shooting percentage at 36.4-percent, led by Bry Tatupu-Leopoldo. Tatupu-Leopoldo averages 2.6 three-pointers per game for a 38.6-percent. BYUH is coming off a string of seven wins and will face Azusa Pacific on Thursday before hosting the Lancers. Tatupu-Leopoldo leads the Seasiders with a 15.9 ppg average, followed by two others averaging double figures—Celeste Claw at 13.4 ppg and Whitney Fieldsted at 10.8 ppg. Feldsted also averages 10.0 rebounds per game for a double-double.
Shark Notes
CBU gets the best for last as the Lancers take on the PacWest's top team, HPU, on Monday. The Sharks have yet to lose a PacWest contest, but face Azusa Pacific on Saturday before hosting the Lancers on Monday. As a team, HPU tops statistical rankings as well, leading the PacWest and ranking second in NCAA Division II with an 83.5 ppg average. HPU's 19.1 scoring margin also bests the conference and puts the team sixth in the division. The Sharks are second in the conference in scoring defense as well, holding teams to 64.4 ppg, to prove a tough act to handle on the court. Morganne Comstock is a major contributor to HPU's success on offense, leading the PacWest with a 20.5 ppg average, which also ranks her 19th in all of NCAA Division II.
