SAN FRANCISCO — With the PacWest Conference just weeks away, No. 12-ranked California Baptist University continued to show excellent form Friday night, hoping to go into the postseason making steady strides.
The Lancers — who rank fourth in the region — took second out of 22 teams Friday night at the San Francisco State Invitational, just 22 points behind No. 5-ranked Chico State with 63 points.
Caroline Barkechir took fifth individually with a time of 22 minutes and 00.6 seconds. Alana Enabnit (8th) and Claire Rainey (9th) weren't far behind with respective times of 22:10.4 and 22:10.8. Berenice Cleyet-Merle took 20th with a time of 22:29.7. Rainey's break-through performance was highly praised by her coach for her efforts.
"The best performance goes to Claire, she really had a breakthrough today," head coach Ben Gall said. "The women showed they are ready for a great postseason run starting in a few weeks."
The Lancers compete in the PacWest Conference on October 24, hoping to continue the impressive run they're on and grab their second-straight conference championship.
