LANCER NOTES
CBU is 10-6 against the West Regional field this year, playing all but one of the five playoff teams. Cal Poly Pomona is the top seed, followed by No. 2 Azusa Pacific, Dixie State, No. 5 UC San Diego and No. 6 Point Loma. The Lancers are looking to improve on its semifinal run in the West from last season, with a balanced attack on offense and defense.
Offensively, CBU is hitting .311 (538-for-1,732) with 155 extra-base hits (110 doubles and 39 home runs). Six of the Lancers' everyday starters are hitting .291 or better. PacWest Player of the Year Antonio Chavarria leads the way (.406, 9 HR, 46 RBI), followed by first baseman/right fielder A.J. David (.383, .511 slugging), catcher Stephen Lohr (.346, 37 RBI), center fielder Andy Crowley (.332, 40 runs, 17 doubles), second baseman Luke Navigato (.300) and Zack Norris (.291, 33 walks). Chavarria, David, Lohr, Crowley, left fielder Brian Ruhm and designated hitter Nathan Antoun all pose legitimate long-ball threats with at least four home runs each this year.
The Lancer pitching staff owns a 3.37 team earned-run average and .252 opposing batting average, with 418 strikeouts to just 135 walks. All three of CBU's primary starting pitchers -- Adam Hofacket, Tyson Miller and Jeremy McDonald -- boast ERAs at 3.06 or below and opposing batting averages of .230 or lower. Crowley has yet to give up a run in 12 appearances as the team's closer.

It is the Lancers' second year in a row qualifying for the NCAA Division II West Regional in their second year of full D-II membership. This is their 20th regional tournament appearance overall, as they aim to advance to the championship for the fifth time in their history, with their previous runs coming from 2010 to 2013. CBU won back-to-back national titles in the NCCAA in 2013 and 2012.

LAST YEAR
CBU relied on a dominant pitching staff that posted a 3.14 ERA and small-ball approach, with a lineup that hit .309 with just 22 home runs (tied for second least in program history) to help it go 39-15, 20-12 in the PacWest last year. It was a far cry from the Lancers' power surge in 2013 when it hit 65 homers, but just as effective. CBU went on to qualify for the NCAA Division II postseason in its first shot and reached the West Region semifinals after entering as the third seed. The Lancers had a flair for the dramatic a year ago, with three walk-off victories from three different players -- Zack Norris, Nathan Antoun and Andy Crowley, who all return this year.
ADCOCK AT A GLANCE
CBU has been a perennial power under coach Gary Adcock, who is in his 12th season coaching the team. He owns a winning percentage of .661 (436-225-1) and has the most wins in program history by 317 games. Eleven of his 12 teams have qualified for the postseason, the lone exception being in 2009, with four reaching the national bracket and two winning national titles in the NCCAA in 2012 and 2013. The Lancers reached the NCAA Division II West Region semifinals last year. His teams have won five conference championships, including a four-year run from 2010 to 2013. Nineteen of his players have been All-American, 19 were named national scholar-athletes, 14 were selected in the MLB Draft and 13 of his athletes have been conference Player (seven) or Pitcher of the Year (six), with 65 athletes earning all-conference selection.
