RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Dominance in several events led California Baptist University to a 169-92 win over Pomona-Pitzer in the Lancers' first home meet of the season Saturday at the Lancer Aquatics Center.

CBU, which is ranked 13th in NCAA Division II, won 12 of the day's 16 events and used depth in several races to down the Sagehens. Christie Halverson did a little bit of everything for the Lancers, swimming the 200-yard backstroke and 400 individual medley, but in one of her signature distance events, she pulled out a victory and NCAA Division II consideration time in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17 minutes, 29.61 seconds.

Meanwhile, Alena Rumiantceva headlined the Lancers' depth in the breaststroke events. She won the 200 breast in 2:21.26 and then took the 100 breast in 1:05.66 – with both times less than a second off D-II consideration standards – and then won the 100 butterfly (1:00.65).

Alex Wolf (2:26.62), Melody Coleman (2:31.92) and Liza Echeverria (2:35.40) placed second through fourth in the 200 breast, and Wolf (1:08.52) and Coleman (1:09.55) were second and third behind Rumiantceva in the 100 breast, as the Lancers outscored Pomona-Pitzer 36-2 in those two events.

CBU nearly shutout the Sagehens in the 400 IM, as well, going first to fourth with Courtney Chacon (4:34.22), Kylie Mihld (4:37.50), Halverson (4:38.93) and Sara Yoshii (4:51.28).

Later on, the Lancers went one-two in the 500 free and 400-medley relay. The foursome of Mihld, Rumiantceva, Yoshii and Grace Oeser won the 400-medley relay in 4:01.77, while Andrea Laliena, Wolf, Kristina Tchernyshev and Hailey Golden finished runner-up (4:04.38). Oeser won the 500 free (5:19.38) and Tessa Olson took second (5:20.76).

Mihld (2:08.66) and Halverson (2:11.43) went one and three, respectively, in the 200 backstroke, while Chacon (2:08.71) and Yoshii (2:15.12) did so in the 200 fly, as well. Chacon also took third in the 100 fly (1:01.21).

Bre Schlenger and Lauren Skinner gave the Lancers top-two finishers on both the 1 and 3-meter dives. Schlenger won the 1-meter with 255.30 points, which surpassed the D-II automatic qualifying mark, and Skinner was second (248.32). Skinner was first on the 3-meter, with a personal-best 274.27 total that was also good for D-II Championship qualification, and Schlenger was second in an automatic sum of 273.90.

"It was another great day for our dynamic duo and two seniors, Bre and Lauren," Dive Coach Jeff Couto said. ""This was the best performance of the season so far. I am very impressed, practice has been good for all our divers."

Ariahn Givens made her home debut for CBU, with first and second-place finishes in the 200 free (1:59.31) and 100 free (54.77), respectively. Golden (54.87) and Taylor Dowden (55.94) rounded out the 100 free in third and fourth place. Golden also took home silver in the 50 free (24.83).

CBU may not have got the win in the 200-free relay, but it had Givens, Laliena, Wolf and Halverson take second in 1:41.48 and then produced the third-place team of Yoshii, Oeser, Olson and Kayte Mayfield (1:42.92).

Laliena (1:00.20) and Mihld (1:00.29) took third and fourth in the 100 back, while Madeline Broz finished third in the 1650 free (18:32.65). Savannah Uhlir took third on the 3-meter dive (209.32) and Janae Jizmejian rounded out the top-four placers on the 1-meter (195.30).
