Lancers Remain Undefeated at 2-0

TAIWAN – A big third quarter fueled California Baptist University to victory in day one of its preseason preview in Taiwan, but the Lancers controlled its second game of the international event against National Taiwan University of Sport from start to finish.
A day removed from a 14-point win over Dankook University, CBU was even more comfortable in a 105-55 win over National Taiwan University on Thursday. Five Lancers scored in double-digits, led by Cassidy Mihalko once again, as the senior guard scored 23 points and added nine rebounds in just 19 minutes.
CBU opened the game with a 28-15 run in the first quarter and then went into halftime with a 54-30 lead. The Lancers continued to click in the third quarter, with a 25-10 showing that quarter that made it 79-40 going into the fourth, allowing all 10 players to log at least 19 minutes of action.
Tori Mitchell impressed down low, with 12 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks for CBU. Fellow newcomer Alexa Ram continued to impress in her second game, scoring 19 points, with eight rebounds, two assists and a steal. Courtney Nelson joined Mihalko and Ram by scoring in double-digits two days running, with 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal. Kamille Diaz finished with an impressive stat line of 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Emma Meriggioli and Kaylee Hinson both finished on the verge of double-digit points themselves, with nine each. Meriggioli added three assists and three rebounds, while Hinson was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, with nine rebounds, two assists and a steal.
The Lancers will look to clinch a semifinal berth in the tournament, with another win against Fo Guang University on Friday. The semifinals will take place Saturday, with the championship game taking place the next day.
