CBU Finds Balance in Canada

BURNABY, B.C., Canada — For the second game in a row, California Baptist University and Simon Fraser faced off, this time on the Clan's home floor on Saturday.
SFU nabbed the 79-65 victory, despite double-digit scoring efforts Tori Mitchell (five rebounds) and Lexy Ram, who finished with 16 and 15 points, respectively for CBU. The Lancers drop to 1-3 this season, while Simon Fraser improves to 3-1.
CBU shot over 81 percent (13-16) from the free-throw line and forced 11 steals in the game. It was a balanced scoring effort, with six players scoring at least five points. Blaysen Varnadoe and Akayla Hackson (two steals) both scored six points, while Emma Meriggioli and Caroline Wich added five points each in the loss.
Emily Schmidt led CBU's effort on the boards, with six rebounds and four points, while Georgia Dale and Ane Olaeta (four assists) each scored four points, as well.
The Lancers return to the Inland Empire to take on Cal State San Bernardino on Tuesday at 6 p.m. They will then take part in the Point Loma Thanksgiving Classic, taking on Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday, respectively, at noon each day.
