BRADENTON, Fla. — On the final day of the NCAA Division II Track Championship, California Baptist University saw both its runners grab All-American honors Saturday evening.
Berenice Cleyet-Merle ran two tough events after qualifying for the championship round in both the 1500-meter and 800-meter. She led the day off with the 1500m, taking fifth overall with a time of four minutes, 21.88 seconds for her second All-American performance of her career and a spot on the podium. It was just a second off her personal-best time of 4:20.69 – which also is the CBU record.
Less than 90 minutes later, Cleyet-Merle was off and running again, this time in the 800m race. The junior kept pace with the pack and crossed the finish line in 2:09.69, less than two seconds off her personal-best and CBU record time of 2:07.73.
Emeline Delanis closed out the meet for the Lancers with a ninth-place finish in the 5K, also earning herself All-American distinction. The sophomore – who came into the meet ranked 12th – clocked in at 16:41.59 at her first track nationals.
