RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the latest NCAA Division I Women's Regional Rankings on Monday morning, with California Baptist University moving up a spot. The Lancers advanced to No. 13 in the West Region rankings following a strong second-place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday.
It puts CBU ahead of Pac-12 opponent Washington State, who sits in the No. 14 spot. The Lancers are the only Western Athletic Conference representative on the West Region list, with two Mountain West teams and seven Pac-12 teams comprising the top-15, along with teams from the Big Sky, Big West and WCC. Utah Valley (No. 14 in Mountain Region) and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (No. 10 in South Central Region) also represent the WAC, but in different regions.
The Lancers debuted in the West Region rankings at No. 14 on September 10th as a result of another second-place finish at the Mark Covert Invitational, the first race for CBU in the DI era. Since that time, the Lancers have put together second place finishes at each of their three meets – the UC Riverside Invitational and the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational.
CBU returns to action on October 13 at the UCR Highlander Invite, the last competition until the WAC Championships on October 27 in Seattle.
